Abandoned by her father within a few months of her birth, Jyoti, along with her two elder brothers was brought up single-handedly by her mother, who worked as a domestic help in several houses in Gurgaon to make both ends meet. Despite all odds, the intrepid migrant from Muradabad, UP, not only fed her family but also ensured that her three children received education till class 12.

Interestingly, while her two brothers turned out to be irresponsible, Jyoti had the spark to build her life. A beneficiary of the SNS Foundation’s education program, Jyoti completed her primary education through the SNSF learning centers. Thereafter she enrolled herself in to the 2 wheeler auto mechanic maintenance training course at the SNSF Centre. On completion, she was hired by Yume Honda as a sales assistant at monthly salary Rs 6600. In the very first month of starting to work, she enrolled for the engine repair training course. The morning batch gave her the opportunity to study while delivering her work related responsibilities. This training ensured that she got a raise of Rs 500 in her monthly salary. Eight months later, she was hired by Infinity Honda, a Honda four-wheel vehicles dealer in, as a Sales Representative at a monthly salary of Rs 11500.

Today, Jyoti has gained respect in the society and financial independence.  She is very thankful to the SNS Foundation, Honda, Federal Mogul and the American Foundation for the training opportunities that have helped her to climb the ladder of professional success.
